OUR MISSION
The Mission of the Salem University Foundation is to provide educational programs for the benefit of students; provide scholarships to needy students; foster education throughout the country; and engage in activities as may be necessary and proper to accomplish the forgoing objects and purpose.
The Salem University Foundation is a 501(c-3) charitable organization (EIN# 20-8119190) and relies heavily on Alumni contributions to help remove financial obstacles to graduation for current students. Many of us Alumni had the benefit of financial aid as students and this generation faces the same challenges and need some assistance.
FOUNDATION
Provides financial aid grants to needy Salem University students and WV High School Seniors interested in attending Salem University but lack financial resources. “Needy students” refers to students who have already exhausted all personal financial means and still lack a small amount to stay in school.
Perpetuates the memory of Jack Deloplaine’s contributions to Salem and rewards student-athletes based on excellence in the classroom and in athletics.
Two $250 scholarships awarded to Biology Majors in their Junior year.
$500 scholarship awarded to a Biology/Health Careers major.
Student Financial Aid Grants are approved and awarded by the Foundation Board of Directors and the Family Scholarship are selected and awarded by the administrators of those funds.

TAX QUESTIONS
Charitable donations to universities are tax-deductible, meaning that donors can claim a deduction on their federal income tax returns for the full value of the donation. This can result in significant tax savings for donors, especially those who make large donations. All donors will receive a year end letter for Tax purposes.
THE 1888 CLUB
The 1888 Club honors our top-tier contributors and pays tribute to the 1888 founding of Salem College in the beautiful hills of West Virginia. Any annual gifts from an individual or a couple, totaling $1,888.00 or more will qualify the donor(s) to be added to the “1888 Club” plaque at Salem University. The mission of this club is to ensure substantial financial resources are available to aid needy students and to assist WV High School graduates in realizing their dream of attending college.
